Clinical Trials

clinical trials, advanced respiratory and sleep medicine

Clinical research has the potential to improve people's lives.

Good medicine is that which is based on evidence. And clinical research trials are how that evidence is gathered about new medications and medical devices. As such, almost every medicine you or someone you love takes today was once part of a clinical trial. But clinical trials are not just how medicines and devices get approved. The truth is that many people have been helped as a result of having access to leading-edge care, which they otherwise wouldn’t have. After all, for virtually every medication and medical device on the market today, the first people to be helped were people who were part of the study. Studies conducted at Advanced Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, PLLC include trials that have contributed to the approval of medications such as Breo, Trelegy, Stiolto, Breztri, Sunosi, Xywav, Wakix, and Lumryz to name a few.

Advanced Respiratory and Sleep Medicine (ARSM) partners with pharmaceutical and medical device companies to research new products and technologies that may someday impact peoples’ lives. The ARSM team includes Thomas Stern, MD, MS; Asha Stern, MD, MPH; Todd M. Thompson, PA-C; and Felix Kurniawan, MS.

Dr. Thomas Stern, and Dr. Asha Stern were the principal investigators in more than 60 clinical trials. These include studies in obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, COPD, asthma, and bronchiectasis.
